At Church of the Lighted Cross our hope is to be the “Church in Morongo…For Morongo.” It is our desire to serve the needs of our community while pointing people to the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, we want to be “The Church.” We don’t want to be the “Baptist Church” or the “Lutheran Church” or the “Pentecostal Church.” While we recognize the value that denominations have and we, ourselves, are proud members of one, our desire is to be whatever the Bible says that a church is supposed to be and to continually allow ourselves to be challenged to be the Church that the Bible describes more than a church that a denomination describes. For this reason we consider ourselves more of a community church. We have fellowshipping with us through the year Baptists, Catholics, Lutherans, Pentecostals, and no doubt people from other back grounds whose main concern is getting to know Jesus better and allowing their lives to be a reflection of who He is and what He has done in their lives.
Our covenant of association is with Transformation Ministries (www.transmin.org), which is a partnership of many diverse churches adhering to baptistic convictions. We are proud to be a part of this group because of the excellent leadership that they provide, for the continuing education and support that they bring to our pastor, and for the stability they provide in seasons of change.
